Handmade in Vienna
Made for always
Your engagement ring. Handmade in Vienna.
An engagement ring is no ordinary piece of jewelry. It is a promise — worn on the finger, visible to all, felt forever. No other piece of jewelry is as present as an engagement ring: it accentuates every gesture, accompanies every movement, catches the light — and stands out. That is exactly why it should not come from a catalog, but from a workshop where someone truly listens, contributes their thoughts, and then begins to work.
A marriage proposal deserves a ring that carries this significance.
At RINGKING at Kleeblattgasse 9, in the heart of Vienna's first district, handmade engagement rings are created that are as individual as the people behind them. I am Max Grün, a goldsmith with over 30 years of experience — and I will guide you from the initial idea to the finished ring. Personally, on equal terms, without any time pressure.
Handmade in Vienna. Made for forever.
Engagement rings for men and couple rings
More and more couples are choosing for both partners to wear an engagement ring. Whether as matching bands in the same design, intentionally different individual pieces, or complete opposites that still belong together — with me, every combination is possible and every one is welcome.
Your idea is the focus
An engagement ring is something deeply personal. It tells a story — your story. That is precisely why, for me, every design process begins not with a sample book, but with you and your ideas.
Sometimes it is a clear image. Sometimes a feeling, a memory, a photo on your phone. Sometimes it is just a sentence: "I want something that doesn't exist yet." That is enough.
I listen, ask questions, think along with you — and turn it into a unique piece that truly fits you. Not just in terms of craftsmanship, but emotionally as well. People come to me because they bring a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship — and because they sense that a ring created by hand has a different quality.
In a personal consultation, we will discover together which design truly works. Which shade of gold harmonizes with your skin tone? Classic, delicate, organic, angular, or clean? Diamonds or colored gemstones? Solitaire or pavé? For everyday wear or for special moments? I will translate your idea into a ring with true personality — one that is not only beautiful, but also functions in everyday life.
Exceptional engagement rings — what that really means to me
Extraordinary is not a marketing buzzword. At RINGKING, it is an attitude.
Every engagement ring that leaves my workshop is an exclusive one-of-a-kind piece — not a model from a catalogue, not a ring that exists anywhere else. For me, the highest degree of customization is not an extra charge, but the standard. It begins with the choice of metal and gemstone, continues through the setting and surface design — and sometimes ends with a hand-engraving on the inside that only two people in the world know about.
What truly sets me apart: I think along with you. For me, extraordinary engagement rings do not automatically mean loud and flashy—they mean that the ring fits you perfectly in every respect.
An example: For a client who works as a nurse, I recommended an eternity ring set with diamonds only halfway around. A ring that looks beautiful, can be worn in everyday life without any issues—and is still extraordinary. Not in spite of the limitation, but because of the solution.
And then there are projects that show how wide my spectrum really is: an engagement ring with a real blade of grass embedded in resin—preserved for eternity. Or couple’s signet rings where each partner wears the other’s tattoo as a hand engraving. No symbol, no idea is too unusual—as long as it suits you.
Handcraft – traditional and modern at the same time
Every engagement ring is crafted by hand in my jewelry workshop — no stock items, no mass production, no compromises. I combine traditional goldsmithing techniques with modern 3D modeling when the utmost precision is required. The result is always an exclusive, one-of-a-kind piece that cannot be found anywhere else.
Especially popular: a personal hand engraving inside the ring. A date, a name, a phrase, a symbol — visible only to you.
The donut ring — a RINGKING signature
One of my most popular designs is the Donut Ring. An engagement ring in white, rose, or yellow gold, where all three visible sides are set with diamonds in a micro-pavé setting — the top, left, and right.
The result is a ring that turns into a single sparkle with every movement. No protruding crown, no edge to get caught on — instead, a fluid, round shape that is comfortable to wear every day while still offering maximum brilliance.
A ring that turns every gesture into a statement.
Who is an engagement ring for?
For everyone who has chosen each other. Period.
Couples of all kinds come to me—heterosexual couples, same-sex couples, couples who both want a ring, couples who prefer to forgo conventions. Some want two identical rings, others want two completely different ones that still belong together. A classic solitaire ring for one partner, an extraordinary signet ring for the other—for me, that is not an exception, but an everyday occurrence.
Engagement rings are not a question of gender or norms. They are a question of style, of history, and of the person wearing the ring.
Materials — the foundation for a unique piece
Every handmade engagement ring begins with the choice of metal. I work with 18-karat and 14-karat yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and 950 platinum—and upon request, with special alloys as well.
24 carat fine gold
Pure gold in its most original form. Warm, soft, unmistakable.
18 karat yellow gold
The classic standard for high-quality jewelry. Warm, durable, timeless.
14K yellow gold
A bit more durable, slightly lighter in tone. A solid choice for everyday rings with character.
14-karat or 18-karat rose gold
Warm, romantic, modern. The favorite gold of many couples — and for good reason.
White gold
Cool, elegant, timeless. With its own distinct character, yet versatile to combine and makes diamonds appear particularly clear.
Platinum
Is the noblest of all ring metals: heavier, denser, more durable — and does not change its color.
The choice of metal influences everything: how the ring looks, how it feels, and how it interacts with the gemstone. My consultation helps you make the right decision — without pressure, with genuine expertise.
QUESTIONS?
Diamonds: Cut, Fire, Brilliance
The diamond remains the classic choice for engagement rings—hard, brilliant, and enduring. I will work with you to examine cut, color, clarity, and carat. But what no certificate can show is what truly matters: how a stone lives and sparkles in real light, and how well it suits the wearer.
The cut determines how a diamond sparkles—and gives a ring its character. Round and classic. Oval and elegant. Pear, distinctive and feminine. Emerald cut, architectural and serene. Cushion, soft. Marquise, extravagant. Heart, romantic and bold.
The choice of cut alone can make all the difference when it comes to extraordinary engagement rings.
Lab-grown diamonds — an honest option
I also work with lab-grown diamonds — chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds. The only difference lies in their origin: conflict-free and produced in a resource-efficient manner.
Particularly exciting in the field of fancy colors: intense yellows, pinks, and blues — extremely rare and expensive as natural diamonds, but suddenly accessible as lab-grown stones. I will advise you openly on both options, without any pressure. There is no right or wrong answer. Only the solution that is right for you.
Gemstones — Color, Fire, Personality and Symbolism
Unusual gemstones are very much in vogue — and for good reason. A deep-sea blue sapphire, a glowing red ruby, an emerald with history and an unmistakable shade of green, a mystical tanzanite, or a pear-cut Paraiba with its unique neon blue sometimes say more about a person than any brilliant-cut diamond.
I personally select every stone — based on color, quality, character, and how it comes alive in the light. Suitability for everyday wear is also important: diamonds and sapphires are particularly robust. An emerald is beautiful, but requires a protective setting and a little more attention. I will help you find the stone that not only looks extraordinary, but also fits your life.
Frames — from classic to signature piece
The setting determines how a stone sits, appears, and can be worn. I have mastered all classic and modern setting techniques — prong, bezel, pavé, channel, micro-pavé — and I develop individual solutions that do not fit into any standard.
Exceptional silhouettes, curved shoulders, asymmetric designs, organic shapes — everything is possible when the craftsmanship is right.
The wedding ring does not come alone
A thought we include from the very beginning: our wedding rings are matched to the engagement ring in material and style, creating a harmonious set. This saves time later and ensures that both rings look like they were made for each other on your finger. Because they are.
Engagement ring trends? Preferring individuality
Of course, there are engagement ring trends. Oval diamonds, lab-grown, toi-et-moi, signet ring designs, fancy colors, emeralds as center stones.
Trends can be inspiring. But they shouldn't be the only reason you choose a ring. Engagement rings don't just accompany you for a season, but in the best case, for a lifetime.
I take inspiration seriously — but I turn it into something unique. A ring with individuality. A ring with character. A ring that exists in no other form.
